Lakhawar Fair : This village fair is held during Sept.-Oct. and is very popular in the neighbouring area of Chakrata, 78 km. from Mussoorie. The fair reflects of the Garhwali tribes. Activities include cultural programmes and sport competitions.
Hanol Mela, Chakrata : The temple of Hanol in Chakrata, 78 km. from Mussoorie is the venue of an exotic fair. The hill dwellers of the state gather in October to worship in all their finery. This is an opportunity to exchange message, purchase wares from various merchants
Neelkanth Mahadev Mela : An important fair is held in the Hindu month of Bhadrapad (July/August) when a visit to the Neelkanth Mahadev temple Rishikesh is considered auspicious.

 

Ladakh Fairs Festivals

Festivals in Ladakh are celebrated as the occasions for merry-making. These festivals provide people with ample opportunities to interact with each other, form new ties and renew the old ones.
Hemis Festival : Hemis is the biggest and most famous of the monastic festivals
Dosmoche Festival : Dosmoche, the festival of the scapegoat, is celebrated with fervor at Leh. Falling in the second half of February, Dosmoche is one of two New Year festivals, the other being Losar. At Dosmoche, a great wooden mast decorated with streamers and religious emblems is et up outside Leh. At the appointed time, offerings of storma, ritual figures moulded out of dough, are brought out and ceremonially cast away into the desert, or burnt. These scapegoats carry away with them the evil spirits of the old year, and thus the town is cleansed and made ready to welcome the new year. Spituk, stok, thikse, chemrey and Matho all have their festivals in winter, between November and March. Likir and Deskit (Nubra )time their festivals to coincide with Dosmoche.
Sindhu Darshan : Sindhu Darshan Festival, as the name suggests, is a celebration of river Sindhu, also known as the Indus. People travel for a Darshan and Puja of the River Sindhu (Indus) which originates from the Mansarovar in Tibet. The Festival aims at projecting the Sindhu river as a symbol of multi-dimensional cultural identity, communal harmony and peaceful co-existence in India.

 

Kullu Dussehra Festival Himachal Pradesh

Kullu Dussehra. As the name suggests, this festival is most vibrantly celebrated in Kullu. This popular festival is celebrated to commemorate the day when the demon 'Ravana' was killed by lord Rama. Kullu Dussehra in Himachal Pradesh is a ten day long festival falls in the month of October and is considered to be one of the most sacred festivals.
